Dion Lee - NYFW

It was the colours that instantly and absolutely stunned me about this collection. The beautiful navy blue, my favourite deep teal colour, jet silky black and crisp whites.

Layering and textural experimentation, with the use of diamond-shaped netting, silk ruching, mohair and cut out details, added contrast to the beautifully tailored pieces. These pieces are seductive and the use of silk means that the material flows perfectly over the body, moving with elegance as the model walks. The contrast between the sultry dresses and sheer silk blouses, and the satin and leather bomber jackets gave a masculine and fierce edge to an overall sophisticated and graceful collection. A trend to try in A/W '16.

According to a source, Lee explained that she "was looking at evening silhouettes, but in a way that felt approachable and relevant to the way women approach evening these days - very casually. It's something that you don't want to fuss about." and the notes featured words such as "silence", "noise", "puncture" and "reduce".
