Caribbean: Antigua

Thought Antigua was such a beautiful island. We spent the first half of the day exploring the island. We first visited Nelson's Dockyard, but I thought that was slightly dull if I'm honest. I am not too interested in boats but if you're interested in the development of the facilities and history of Nelson's Dockyard over 50+ years. There is also a museum if you're really interested but what was more intriguing to me was the amazing super boats and yachts that are moored there by the rich and famous (well... their crews). After that, we visited Shirley Heights. It has the most spectacular view of the harbour and all of the sea. It was lovely seeing it in the day time but I can imagine it being the most amazing view when the sun is setting and on Sunday's there is a huge celebration with steel drum bands, Rum punch and a BBQ but there is a fee. I wish we were there on a Sunday, it would have been a great experience! Maybe an experience for another time.  The second half of the day, we spent on the beach. Well, we spent it at the bar/restaurant which was on the beach. It was probably the hottest day of the entire holiday and my family didn't want to spend it on the beach, so we drank a whole lot of rum punch and ate a "Mellor portion" of food (A LOT of food) and just relaxed all afternoon. It was heavenly.

Gee xxx
