Michael Kors - NYFW

In trying to shun his name being directly linked with his infamous bag line and nothing else, he created a beautiful collection, all very wearable for your real life woman. At a press conference, Kors stated that "If you're a Michael Kors woman you're always travelling, [whilst revealing the secret and concealed compartment in the base of the crocodile handbag] so you have to have somewhere to hide your jewels." Having the collection mused around those with high society, wealthy American lifestyles such as Babe Paley, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and the Duchess of Windsor, it featured a lot of fur... much like a lot of the collections this season, however, one of the statement pieces and one of my favourite was the laser cut Mink coat that absolutely killed the show. Fur - done. Laser cut fur - welcome Mr. Kors. My other favourite being the crystal embellished velvet loose-fit two piece suit with black fur stole.

Kors also said that "My favourite thing is the idea of a very glamorous woman taking her kids to school in the morning, and just throwing on her fur coat over her nightgown." - this kind of set the tone for the runway show for me. Foxy collars, patch pockets, grandpa cardigans, Aran knits... knitwear is also huge this season and Kors has it not only in abundance but in the upmost quality and beauty too. All of his pieces that strutted down the catwalk had the highest sophistication and subtly.

Being cut on the bias in a way to shape around the body perfectly, yet not cling to it, this collection is definitely my favourite of Kors'. Textures were layered and mixed: velvet, mink, mohair, silk and cashmere, just to name a few and complimented with the classic palette: camel, mustard, khaki green, brown, burgundy, olive, navy and black, this collection showcased Kors' best assets - his bags and his uptown glamour garments.

Sorry about the lack of posts recently, hoping to write A LOT this weekend so I can schedule them whilst I work super hard at college. I'm hoping to get a distinction so that I can get into my desired uni's more easily (so wish me luck!)

Let me know what you think about this post.

Gee x
